Thunderstorm Brings Hail and Water Damage to Lakewood?

4/25/2023 (Permalink)

We restore water damage 24 hours a day in Jefferson County.

Our local Lakewood and Ken Caryl teams respond to storm damage emergencies every year in Lakewood. Colorado’s hail season begins around the middle of April and lasts through mid-August each year. The Front Range is situated in the center of “hail alley,” and receives the highest frequency of large-sized hail in North America. Under the right conditions, hail forms during thunderstorms. Here are some definitions for thunderstorms alerts from the Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management:

  • Severe Thunderstorm Watch - Severe thunderstorms are possible in and near the watch area. Stay informed and be ready to act if a severe thunderstorm warning is issued.
  • Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Severe weather has been reported by spotters or indicated by radar. Warnings indicate imminent danger to life and property.
  • 30/30 Lightning Rule - You can tell how close you are to a lightning strike by counting the seconds between seeing the flash and hearing the thunder. For every five seconds you count, the lightning is one mile away. If you see a flash and instantly hear the thunder, the lightning strike is very close.
